You are going to write a summary of the owl pellet project.
There are some questions listed below that will help guide your ideas. Be sure to include the following eleven vocabulary words and underline each vocabulary word in your summary.
digest, regurgitate vole,\dissect, organism, population, community, habitat, ecosystem, biospere, apex predator
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
1.Describe how owl pellets are created. Why are owl pellets not the waste product (scat, poop, feces) from an owl?
2. What were you looking for as you began the exploration of the owl pellet?
3. What type of organism did we find most often in our owl pellets? What does that tell us about the owl's diet? Why did you not find only one complete skeleton of one organism in your pellet?
4. Describe the primary habitat of the organism in your pellet. Do the habitats of the food source and the barn owl overlap?
5. What would happen to the owl's habitat if the rodent population decreased? Based on your understanding of predators and food webs, what can you infer about the role of the apex predator and the impact it makes on our ecosytem?
6. Share any other personal observations/thoughts/ideas from this study.

1.How an owl pellet is cerated is when owls swallow there pray whole. They digest the soft part(meat)and the fur and bones are stored in a extra stomach then they regurgitate it and it becomes an owl pellet.

2.I think we found voles most often in our owl pellet and that means a vole is the main organism an owl eats is a vole.

3.No. The barn owl lives in trees or abandoned barn or houses. The voles primary habitat is meadows or fields.

4. Interesting bones from the rodent community.

5.If the rodent population decreased the apex predator the owl, would die of starvation. This would happen because the ecosystem would be out of balance.
